Bone Tumors

Bone tumors are occasionally found in the foot, ankle and distal leg. Fortunately, most of these tumors are benign. As a foot and ankle specialist, we read multiple x-rays a day, and at times find bone tumors. Some tumors can cause a pathologic fracture to occur. Our treatment plans vary from observation to surgical resection and repair, depending on the type of lesion and the symptoms. Common symptoms can be bone pain, swelling and limited range of motion around joints. We work closely with oncologists if a malignant tumor is found. The images show examples of benign and malignant bone tumors.
