Why is treating pediatric flatfeet so important? Prevention of bunion and hammer toe formation is one of the essential treatments in pediatric flatfoot. The x-rays show a 14 year old that has a severe flatfoot deformity. The pt at 14 years of age already has a bunion deformity that can be seen on the x-rays. Treating pediatric patients early can prevent and/or slow the development of deformities in the forefoot.
